Collaboration with the Practical Sustainability Course
As an organisation we don't own premises or land. Our teaching takes place in a variety of locations across Bristol and further afield. This helps ground skill development in a real-world context, improving the assets and resilience of organisations and businesses to thrive in a world facing multiple challenges.
- Site improvement
We can install Living Willow Sculptures, Retrofit existing buildings and 'Permablitz' on land-based sites.
- Permaculture Design
During the PSC student groups complete three design projects to increase the health, resilience, dynamism, flow and productivity of land-based sites.
Each design project involves;
- Surveying land and ecology
- Stakeholder consultation
- Analysis and problem solving [based on permaculture principles, and informed by the PSC curriculum]
- Creation of a design report
- Presentation of findings
During the Practical Sustainability Course there are 3 themed design projects.
- Soil & Fertility : Nov/Dec
- Growth & Abundance : March
- Permaculture Design Consultancy : Large-scale site development : June
- Roundhouse Build
Each year of the Practical Sustainability Course our students build a low-impact roundhouse on a different site, with the talented Sheltercraft team.
